Deadpool 2 screenwriters have a unique Hugh Jackman cameo idea

March 27, 2017 by Robert Kojder

During promotion for their newest film Life, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about a creative idea to have Hugh Jackman cameo in the hotly-anticipated Deadpool 2.

After a journalist from THR pitched the idea for Deadpool meeting Hugh Jackman as himself (as a continuation of the joke at the end of the movie where the Merc with a Mouth wears a cutout face of Hugh Jackman over his own ugly mug), Reese and Wernick replied: “I like that. Deadpool lives in a world where Hugh Jackman is out there. He’s got the People’s Sexiest Man Alive cover that he staples to his forehead in the first movie, so maybe he could meet Hugh as Hugh. That would be really funny.”

Ryan Reynolds had been eager for Wolverine to make an appearance alongside Deadpool, only for Jackman to rule out the possibility of reprising his role post-Logan. So, perhaps this is the best we could get? Let us know in the comments below if you like this cameo idea…

Deadpool 2 is expected to go into production later this year for release in 2018. David Leitch (John Wick) takes over directing duties, with Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus) and Karan Soni (Dopinder) returning to the cast alongside Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino.
