Jumanji trailer, Death Note trailer, Curse of Chucky trailer and stuff that isn’t trailers – Daily News Roundup

June 30, 2017 by admin

WE’VE GOT FUN AND GAMES

It was a big day for trailers yesterday, and it kicked off with our first look at the upcoming reboot/sequel to the 1995 adventure movie, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The film stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan as video game avatars for a group of school kids who are sucked into the game. We’ll have a full reaction to the trailer up today at Flickering Myth, but for now you can watch the trailer here.

GOOD HAN SOLO NEWS, FOR A CHANGE

After a week or so of bad news coming from the Han Solo spin-off camp, a good snippet came yesterday when it was reported that Disney are now pleased with a sizzle reel put together. What’s interesting is that this sizzle reel was shown to the Disney brass a month ago, and the studio were reportedly very happy with the performances of both leads. Read more here.

LET’S BEGIN

Next trailer now, and it’s our second look at Adam Wingard’s American adaptation/re-imagining of Death Note. The story, about a young boy who stumbles upon a notepad which can kill anyone as long as their name is written in it, debuts next month on Netflix and stars Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley and Willam Defoe. Check out the trailer here.

WILL THEY, WON’T THEY?

In the ever-changing story of Spider-Man, the MCU and Sony’s Spider-verse, Kevin Feige has revealed in an interview that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will not appear in the Venom movie which starts production later this year. “I think the folks there are making a great Venom movie and I don’t know much about it,” he said, “but I know they’re off to a good start with Tom Hardy.” Read more here.

BAD LUCK JACK, CHUCKY’S BACK

After bringing the franchise back to life with 2013’s Curse of Chucky, original creator Don Manici returns to the Child’s Play franchise with this October’s Cult of Chucky. The film sees Curse of Chucky‘s Nica team up with a now grown-up Andy from Child’s Play to take down the killer doll. Watch the red band trailer here.

ZORDON NOT ALONE

In an interesting note, Power Rangers director Dean Israelite has revealed that Zordon was not the only Ranger at the start of the movie originally, and he was joined by others when Rita turns against them. “I always wanted to make it very subjective, very personal and this kind of intimate opening that set your expectations, that you know that you’re going into a superhero movie that’s going to try to do something a little bit different with the genre. It’s trying to be this more sort of personal character-driven story as opposed to a big fantastic opening that I think we’ve come to expect from a lot of movies. And I felt that the salient point, the story point, was really all about Zordon and Rita, and the rest just cluttered that drama.” Read more here.

ARTICLE OF THE DAY

Even before Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed the first trailer for Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Flickering Myth’s film grump Anghus Houvouras thought we were suffering from Rock Franchise Fatigue. Read the article here.
