With Arrow set to return this fall for its sixth season, Stephen Amell has been chatting to CinemaBlend about how he’d like to see his character handled moving forward, with the star revealing that he’s hoping tosee a shift towards a more comic book accurate take on Oliver Queen.
“I’ve said that it’s very, very important that if Oliver doesn’t take away lessons from Season 5 and doesn’t keep doing the things that have led to this catastrophic event, the character stops being interesting to me,” said Amell. “So I hope that part of that, in Season 6 and if we have seasons beyond that, I hope that part of that is we get back to a lot of the tenets that people recognize from the comics. And that of course is humor and a socially conscious, slightly liberal superhero… The comics version, he has some really interesting qualities that make him unique, and I hope we get to explore more of those.”

Amell has previously spoke about the focus of season six of the show, stating that: “The theme of Season 5 was legacy. From what I understand, the theme of Season 6 is family.”
Arrow will return to The CW for season six on its new night of Thursdays, starting October 12th.
