Channing Tatum drops directorial debut, severs ties with The Weinstein Company

October 19, 2017 by Gary Collinson

The fallout from the sexual assault allegations against Harvey Weinstein shows no sign of slowing down, and now Channing Tatum has become the latest name to sever ties with The Weinstein Company.

Tatum was set to make his directorial debut Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock with TWC, but has now announced that he has abandoned the project and will not work with the studio on any future films.

“Our lone project in development with TWC — Matthew Quick’s brilliant book, Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock — is a story about a boy whose life was torn asunder by sexual abuse.,” said Tatum in a statement. “While we will no longer develop it or anything else that is property of TWC, we are reminded of its powerful message of healing in the wake of tragedy.”

Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock centres on high-schooler Leonard Peacock, an alienated high schooler who plans to kill his best friend and himself.
