It’s certainly a busy time for Lucasfilm, what with Star Wars: The Last Jedi incoming, Ron Howard in post-production on Solo: A Star Wars Story following intense reshoots, and J.J. Abrams working furiously on the script for Star Wars: Episode IX after the studio decided to part ways with Colin Trevorrow and start over ahead of production next year.
However, despite the heavy workload, it seems that Kathleen Kennedy and the Lucasfilm Story Group are now sitting down to map out the next ten years of Star Wars movies following Episode IX.
“We’re sitting down now, we’re talking about the next ten years of Star Wars stories and we’re looking at narratively where that might go; future stories beyond Episode IX, with these new characters, Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8, but we’re also looking at working with people that are interested in coming into the Star Wars world and taking us to places that we haven’t been yet, and that’s exciting too because it’s a vast galaxy far, far away,” said Kennedy on the latest episode of The Star Wars Show. “The possibilities are endless.”
Given that upcoming Anthology movies are reportedly set to focus on Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and even Jabba the Hutt, the prospect of being taken to places we haven’t been yet will surely sound appealing to those fans who want to see the franchise venturing out beyond the already-established canon.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 14th in the UK and December 15th in the States and sees returning cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Mike Quinn (Nien Nunb), Simon Pegg (Unkar Plutt), and Warwick Davis joined by new additions Jimmy Vee (Pan) as R2-D2, Kelly Marie Tran (Ladies Like Us) as Rose, and Benicio Del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park).
