Nintendo considering third party Amiibo game integration

November 10, 2014 by Tom Powter

While very little is known about Nintendo’s upcoming line of NFC figurines, Amiibo, their integration may not be limited to first-party titles like Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart.

Nintendo of America’s Licensing Manager Damon Baker has told IGN that the company is looking at ways to integrate the Amiibo range into third-party games too. Baker said: “We’re excited to see how that pans out but there’s a ton of interest from our third-party partners and we’re looking at what makes sense in terms of business models and levels of integration. There are really creative ideas that are coming through and we are working towards some opportunities for next year.”

We still don’t known much at all about the Amiibo integration of games, even in Nintendo’s first-party titles, though the company has explained how integration in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Mario Kart 8 will work. The first range of Amiibo figures will launch alongside Super Smash Bros with twelve figures in total.
