Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Rosemary’s Baby with AfterShock’s Babyteeth

February 11, 2017 by Gary Collinson

AfterShock Comics has announced that it is launching a brand new series from up-and-coming writer Donny Cates (God Country) and artist Garry Brown this June in Babyteeth, which is described as “Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Rosemary’s Baby.”

“Babyteeth is so much fun to write,” states Cates. “After spending much of my career writing gruff anguished heroes and dusty old men I really wanted to sink my teeth into something that had a lot of heart and a lot of fun to it. That being said, I suppose it’s telling that my idea of fun is a young girl giving birth to the antichrist. But honestly, Sadie Ritter is one of my hands down favorite people in the whole world. I love her dearly and I know you will too. Her son can be a handful, though… And might I just say, that doing the book with AfterShock has been amazing. Everyone at the company has been fired up and 100% onboard since I turned the first pitch in. Their excitement is infectious and makes the whole creative team really step their game up. I tend to think fans can tell when a creative team is having fun on a book. And if even a tenth of Aftershocks enthusiasm bleeds through on this one, you are all going to have a fucking blast reading Babyteeth.”

Sadie Ritter is sixteen years old, nine months pregnant, and scared out of sweet nerdy mind. Having a baby that young is tough. But with the support of her loving family behind her, everything should be okay. OH YEAH, and also her baby is the antichrist and it’s going to break open the barriers between the earthly and demonic planes and unleash eternal suffering to all of humankind. Other than that, though…should be fine.

Look for Babyteeth #1 in June, priced $3.99.
