David Arquette is unsure if Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox are returning for Scream 5

June 18, 2020 by Liam Waddington

It was recently announced that Spyglass Media Group is resurrecting the Scream franchise with a fifth instalment which is set to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the two directors of last year’s hit horror-comedy Ready or Not.

While the star of the Scream series Neve Campbell has revealed that conversations are happening regarding her reprising the role of Sidney Prescott, David Arquette, who is known for playing Sheriff Dewey Riley, has confirmed that while he is the only one to have officially signed on so far, he is unable to talk about anything regarding behind-the-scenes on the film.

“Oh my gosh, yeah, I am. I’m not allowed to talk about it,” Arquette revealed to Andy Cohen on SiriusXM. “It’s just me so far, I don’t know. I don’t know if anyone else is gonna do it. I don’t know what my role is. I mean I’m Dewey, again, but we’re really not allowed to talk about anything.”

Although Arquette is the first member of the film’s ensemble to be officially announced, a fifth Scream title surely wouldn’t feel the same without the inclusion of the other two original cast members – Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers.

The original writer of Scream, Kevin Williamson, will be returning as an executive producer alongside Chad Villella for Scream 5 – although we are still unaware if Williamson will be penning the script for the new film.
