Killing Floor 2’s free summer update takes the action out to sea in Tidal Terror

June 16, 2022 by Andrew Newton

Tripwire Interactive has announced that the free summer 2022 update is now available for Killing Floor 2 and will take players out to sea for extreme first person action.  Titled Tidal Terror, this year’s summer update includes a new map, weapons, cosmetic items, quality of life improvements and much more.  See more of this update in the trailer below….

Tidal Terror features a brand new map set on a massive oil rig out in a vast ocean.  Titled ‘Rig’, this map can be played with the Survival, Weekly and Endless game modes and includes five new objectives that once completed will reward players with a unique seasonal gift.

There’s also a new weekly game mode called Arsenal Ascent.  This new co-op mode starts as knife fight, so all players start with just a knife, then the race begins to rack up kills in order to earn weapon upgrades.  Players will need to keep a look out for ammo spawns and armour pickups to ensure they have a chance to keep the kills coming so they can reach the final and most powerful weapon.

Players can also expect to come across the following new weapons:

  • Reducto Ray for Survivalist Class – includes the base texture and five weapon skin variants.
  • Sentinel for Commando Class – comes with a base texture and five weapon skin variants.
  • HRG Crossboom for Demolitionist Class.
  • HRG Head Hunter for Sharpshooter Class.

For those players who like their cosmetics there are a range of weapon skins, including the nautical themed Horzine Deep Sea Weapons, plus there’s a Horzine Deep Sea Exploration Suit character outfit.

Finally, there’s a new map difficulty, more achievements and quality of life improvements, namely weapon and perk stat tuning based on feedback from the community.

If you want to take part in this summer’s action but don’t yet have Killing Floor 2 then the game is available to purchase for £24.99 / $29.99 / €29.99.
