Star Wars: The Last Jedi’s Daisy Ridley on a possible turn to the dark side for Rey

November 28, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Until a few months ago, the biggest question surrounding Rey in Star Wars: The Last Jedi was whether we’d discover the identity of her parents. However, since we’ve seen her with Kylo Ren both in the second trailer and recent images, the question now seems to be, “will Rey turn to the dark side of the Force?”

Well, as you’d expect, Daisy Ridley isn’t giving anything away, but she’s also not ruling out that very possibility, with the actress telling Good Morning America that:

“I think the thing about this film is it’s not so… the lines are less clear as to, like, good and bad. Rey’s trying to find out about herself and about the universe, and those questions don’t entirely fall to the good, nor do they entirely fall to the bad… She’s trying to do her own sort of personal growth and I think what’s amazing is that the end of the film – however that does end – it’s more rich. If it’s always good, the outcome isn’t as important as it might be if…”

Mark Hamill had previously teased that it was “possible” for Luke Skywalker to turn to the dark side in The Last Jedi, before subsequently ruling out any such speculation. With just a couple of weeks to go, our questions will soon be answered…

In Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set for release on December 14th in the UK and December 15th in the States and sees returning cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Gwendoline Christie (Captain Phasma), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Andy Serkis (Supreme Leader Snoke), Peter Mayhew and Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar), Mike Quinn (Nien Nunb), Simon Pegg (Unkar Plutt), and Warwick Davis joined by new additions Jimmy Vee (Pan) as R2-D2, Kelly Marie Tran (Ladies Like Us) as Rose, and Benicio Del Toro (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park).
