Super Smash Bros. for Wii U gets a release date

October 7, 2014 by Tom Powter

With the recent release of the wildly anticipated Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, gamers everywhere have been clamouring for a release date for the Wii U version of the game. Now, they finally have one.

On the game’s official website, Nintendo revealed a number of different dates corresponding to multiple regions. Here’s a breakdown for you:

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will arrive first it seems in North America on November 21st, which is a surprisingly early date. It’s also the same day Pokemon remakes Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are set to arrive. Unfortunately for those of us in Europe, we have to wait until December 5th for the game to drop, but at least it isn’t 2015.

The game will then arrive in Australia on December 6th. Japanese gamers will also have to wait, as they get the game on December 6th too. It’s great news for Smash Bros. fans as the wait between the 3DS and Wii U versions shouldn’t be too gruelling (who am I kidding). It’s also great news for Nintendo, who are banking on Smash Bros. giving them an excellent holiday season.
