Xbox Games with Gold for June 2019 announced

May 30, 2019 by Andrew Newton

It’s that time of the month again when Microsoft reveals the Games with Gold for the coming month.  As usual, June will bring two titles for the Xbox One and two backwards compatible 360 titles.

The Xbox One titles coming this June are EA’s hockey title, NHL 19.  Players can expect to find 200 legendary players, familiar teams and for the first time in the series, outdoor rinks to skate on and score one for the team.  Also coming for the second half of the month is the indie fighting game Rivals of Aether; in this title players will take their hero to the battlefield where they will summon the power of Fire, Water, Air and Earth against their rivals.  Players will be able to enjoy a Story Mode and learn the backstory to the characters, a Versus Mode against others and the Abyss Mode which will see players fight wave after wave of shadowy figures.

Possibly the highlight of the month is the excellent puzzle platformer Portal.  Praised for it’s originality and addictive gameplay, Portal will see players solve a number of puzzles that will involve transporting themselves and objects throughout levels using the “the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device”.  This is certainly a game to download if you don’t already have it.

The second Xbox 360 title is the third person shooter Earth Defense Force 2017.  First released back in 2006 in Japan, EDF 2017 puts players at the centre of the action as hostile alien forces attempt to destroy humanity.  Players will have access to over 150 weapons, including assault rifles, laser guns and rocket launchers, as they battle it out over 53 fully destructible levels.
