DC’s Detective Comics #1000 and Watchmen top bestselling comics and graphic novels of 2019, but Marvel is the #1 publisher overall

Diamon Comic Distributors has released details of the top selling titles for 2019, with DC Comics claiming top spot in both the comic book and graphic novel charts but Marvel ending the year as the top publisher in the industry with a 40.2% dollar share and 44.7% unit share compared to DC’s 29.3% and 30.7%.

The biggest selling comic book title of the year was DC’s Detective Comics #1000, a celebration of Batman’s 80th anniversary, while the Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons classic Watchmen was the bestselling graphic novel of 2019, boosted by interest thanks to the acclaimed HBO TV series.
