Ewan McGregor says Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars TV series will start shooting in March

October 11, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having been delayed once to undergo a retooling under a new creative team, it seems that Disney and Lucasfilm are now firmly back on track with their Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars series, with star Ewan McGregor revealing on the UK’s The Graham Norton Show that filming is set to get underway in March.

“We start shooting it in March next year,” said McGregor. “The fun thing about doing [the prequels] in the first place, when I was much younger, was trying to imagine, how would Alec Guinness play these scenes as a younger guy.

“It led me to watch a lot of his early work, which I hadn’t seen before. Brilliant movies, wonderful films that he’d been in. I had such a great time sort of studying him in those movies.

“This time, I’m much closer in age to him. It will be my challenge to try and meet him somewhere. I love Alec Guinness. I never got to meet him, but I love him, through his work, and it’s a great honor to try and pretend to be him.”

So far, Ewan McGregor is the only confirmed cast member for the Obi-Wan series, although rumours have suggested that Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader), Joel Edgerton (Owen Lars), Ahmed Best (Jar Jar Binks) and Rosario Dawson (Ahsoka Tano) could all feature, along with a young Luke Skywalker.
