Henry Cavill provides The Witcher season 2 filming update following UK lockdown

November 4, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Henry Cavill, the star of The Witcher, has provided a shooting update now that England has gone into a second lockdown.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the second season of Netflix’s fantasy show The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill. The first season was a big success but fans will have to wait a while longer for more.

The Witcher shoots in England but now that the nation has gone into a second lockdown, what does this mean for the show? Well, Cavill took to Instagram to inform fans of the latest developments:

“England returns to Lockdown on Thursday so it is time for me to depart Yorkshire and the extraordinary North, and head back down South to continue shooting in the studio. Thank you for hosting all of us on season 2 of The Witcher. Hopefully, I shall return to your hills, dales and fells soon. Stay strong and stay safe, my friends.”

So, while The Witcher is moving off location, at least filming can continue in the studio. Hopefully, we will hear more from the show soon as we relax in knowing that production hasn’t halted altogether.

Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. Other cast members include Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read, Emma Appleton, Eamon Farren, Joey Batey, Lars Mikkelsen, Royce Pierreson, Maciej Musiał, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte, and Anna Shaffe.

New cast members for season two include Kim Bodnia as Vesemir, Yasen Atour as Coen, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen, Mecia Simson as Francesca, and Basil Eidenbenz as Eskel.
