November 25, 2015 by Tom Beasley

Ryan Gosling (Only God Forgives) is in talks to play the iconic astronaut Neil Armstrong in upcoming biopic First Man, which is being directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash), according to Deadline.

First Man has been in development for some time, with Clint Eastwood (American Sniper) originally earmarked to direct the script from Josh Singer (Spotlight).

Young helmsman Chazelle joined the film earlier this year and is hoping to attract Gosling to the project after working with the star on current musical project La La Land, which will be released in July 2016.

Gosling will be seen next in Oscar hopeful The Big Short, which hits cinemas in December.
