Rob Zombie’s The Munsters adds Elvira, will be PG rated

March 12, 2022 by Gary Collinson

As filming continues on his feature film reboot of The Munsters, Rob Zombie has taken to social media to announce that The Mistress of the Dark is heading to Mockingbird Heights, with Zombie revealing on his Instagram that Cassandra Peterson – a.k.a. horror hostess Elvira – is set to appear in the role of real estate agent Barbara Carr. Meanwhile, with a filmography that includes the likes of House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects, and 3 From Hell, it’s understandable that some fans of The Munsters may have some trepidation over the reboot and the way that Zombie plans on handling the material. However, the musician and filmmaker has moved to reassure fans of the beloved 60s sitcom that the modern reboot will retain the same family-friendly tone, with a PG-rating.

“For those of you speculating, wondering and assuming that THE MUNSTERS would be dirty, violent and nasty… Well, you are wrong,” wrote Zombie. “It’s all good down on Mockingbird Lane.”

The Munsters features a cast that includes Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa, Richard Brake as Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang, Sylvester McCoy as Igor, Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp, Jorge Garcia as Floop and Cassandra Peterson as Barbara Carr.

The Munsters is slated to release theatrically and on Peacock later this year.
