Thor: Ragnarok celebrates Jack Kirby, Chinese Homecoming poster, Justice League’s connections to Batman v Superman and more – Daily News Roundup

THOR CELEBRATES KIRBY

Over the weekend, it would have been legendary comic creator Jack Kirby’s 100th birthday and the mark the occasion Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige took to social media to unveil a new logo for Thor: Ragnarok inspired by the artist’s run on the comic, as well as stating that: “[The] MCU wouldn’t exist without him. Thor: Ragnarok is an unabashed love letter to his vision.” Check it out here.

SIMON WEST EXCLUSIVE

Earlier this month it was announced that British director Simon West (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) would be helming Tsunami L.A., and Flickering Myth got the chance to speak with the man himself about it. “It’s the story of a family who are separated once L.A. is submerged, and if you could imagine Los Angeles as a sort of water-logged, underwater theme park,” he told us. “It’s how they get back together in a city that is very familiar to them and a lot of people, but now very different because it’s fifty feet underwater.” Read more here.

SPIDEY HEADS TO CHINA

Ahead Spider-Man: Homecoming’s arrival in Chinese theatres next month, seven new posters have arrived online for the Middle Kingdom release of the Sony and Marvel-produced blockbuster. Check them out here.

BATMAN EXCLUSIVE

Another exclusive for you now, and we got the chance to speak with Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy who argued that Batman: Mark of the Phantasm is the best movie based on The Dark Knight. “I think that is the best Batman movie, live action or animated,” he told us. “You get the whole genesis of the Batman story in that one film. And then you’ve got the drama, falling in love with Andrea Beaumont, wanting to have a normal life, pleading with his parents grave to release him from the vow and then realising he’s doomed to avenge their deaths. He’s trapped in his fate. It’s a great, classic, tragic movie.” Read more here.

JUSTICE LEAGUE PLOT DETAILS

According to film magazine Total Film, Justice League will serve as a direct sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice by picking up shortly after the film’s events. According to the magazine, the superhero team-up will begin with “Superman in the grave after sacrificing himself during the battle against Doomsday. Batman and Wonder Woman are gathered in mourning before Steppenwolf makes himself known, leaving the duo to team up with other enhanced heroes.” Read more here.

BROLIN <3 REYNOLDS

As anticipation grows the the R-rated Deadpool 2, Josh Brolin has spoken about his love for co-star Ryan Reynolds. “He’s an amazing guy, very smart and really sweet — and really handsome,” Brolin told EW. “He’s a smart guy, he’s the one who saw this and tried to get this movie made for eight years and was unable to. I think he has such a perfect sensibility. He’s a great producer on it, there’s a lot to trust there.” Read more here.
