More Super Smash Bros Wii U DLC on the way

October 25, 2014 by Tom Powter

Mewtwo was revealed to be a returning character through DLC during Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros Wii U specific Direct, but he’s not the only thing they’re adding to the game later on.

Firstly, a Miiverse stage is coming to the game. It looks to be an intriguing stage, shaped similarly to Battlefield except for the addition of real-life Miiverse posts flying by in the background! Depending on the fighter you select, actual Miiverse posts depicting that character will appear in the background. In a sense, it seems like a natural evolution of the Pictochat stage found in Brawl and Smash 3DS.

Also coming in a future update is the ability to share created stages. At launch, you’ll only be able to play your created stages offline, but eventually you’ll have the capacity to share them online, along with replay footage.

Finally, tournaments will be coming to the game. The post-release download will allow players to host 64-player tournaments, even online. You can battle with friends and strangers and the rules appear to be fully customisable.

Hopefully, with Nintendo beginning to really embrace DLC, we’ll see even more in the future of the game!
