While director Curry Barker is getting ready for the wide release of his feature debut Obsession, he is already prepping his next feature Anything But Ghosts., and the upcoming film has just gained an Academy Award nominee with Bryce Dallas Howard joining the cast.
Howard will star alongside Breaking Bad veteran Aaron Paul, Barker and Cooper Tomlinson from a script written by the latter pair. There is no synopsis as of yet, but the film has been described as a horror-comedy.
Anything But Ghosts will be produced by Focus Features, Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Spooky Pictures and Divide/Conquer.
Barker and Tomlinson began their careers filming shorts on YouTube through their company That’s a Bad Idea. Obsession, which Tomlinson stars in and Barker wrote and directed, premiered last year at TIFF and was subsequently picked up by Focus Features for release. The film stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Megan Lawless and Tomlinson and focuses on Johnston’s character who gets more than he bargained for after using a wishing willow to make his unrequited crush fall absolutely in love with him. Obsession will be released on May 15th and there is no window yet for Anything But Ghosts‘ release. Barker has also just signed on to write and direct a reboot of Texas Chainsaw Massacre for A24.
