Anghus Houvouras reviews Beyonce’s visual album Lemonade….Most people’s relationship drama turns into nothing more than a boring story you suffer through over dinner with friends while questioning our life choices. Beyoncé went and turned hers into an artistic sucker punch of sight and sound. There comes a point in an artist’s career when they transcend traditional […]
Batman v Superman vs. The Dark Knight Rises: The importance of humanity in our superheroes
Anghus Houvouras on Batman v Superman vs. The Dark Knight Rises and the importance of humanity in our superheroes (spoilers follow)…My favorite sequence from any comic book movie is the final forty minutes of The Dark Knight Rises. This always strikes me as odd because overall the movie is kind of a mess. The same kind […]
Why Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is worth defending
Anghus Houvouras on why Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is worth defending…Superhero movies have become so stale. They’re still very much a staple of the pop culture landscape and as popular as ever, but the plots are lukewarm rehashes that all feel frighteningly similar. As a lifelong reader of comics, I’m painfully familiar with […]

Done to Death: The Perpetual Resurrection of Comic Book Characters
Anghus Houvouras on the perpetual resurrection of comic book characters…Death. It’s a constant in the world of comic books. Something employed by Marvel and DC with marked regularity.
