James Gunn announces full cast for The Suicide Squad

September 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Hot on the heels of debunking the rumour about a cameo appearance from Zatanna, director James Gunn has now unveiled the full cast for his upcoming DC Extended Universe supervillain ensemble The Suicide Squad.

Along with the returning Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) are Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, John Cena, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, Taika Waititi, Jennifer Holland, David Dastmalchian, Joaquín Cosío, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Julio Ruiz, Steve Agee and Gunn favourites Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn.

Gunn shared the following reveal to social media, along with the caption “don’t get too attached” – meaning its likely a number of Task Force X members won’t be be around come the final credits…

While official character details for the newcomers are yet to be revealed, it’s been rumoured previously that Daniela Melchior is playing Ratcatcher, David Dastmalchian is Polka-Dot Man, and Michael Rooker and/or Steve Agee could be portraying King Shark. Expect more obscure, wacky DC characters to be revealed as the film moves forward into production ahead of its release in 2021.

What do you make of the cast for The Suicide Squad? Are you looking forward to seeing James Gunn’s take on Task Force X? Let us know in the comments below…
