Katee Sackhoff to reprise Star Wars: The Clone Wars role in The Mandalorian

May 12, 2020 by Gary Collinson

It seems that Ahsoka Tano may not be the only animated Star Wars character to make their live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian, as SlashFilm is reporting that Katee Sackhoff is joining the Disney+ series cast and will portray the Mandalorian warrior Bo-Katan Kryze, a character she previously voiced on Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Bo-Katan’s inclusion in The Mandalorian isn’t entirely surprising, given that at the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels she was in possession of the Darksaber, the weapon we saw wielded by Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon in the season one finale.

Sackhoff is said to have shot her role back in February, which – if true – means that she was keeping her cards very close to her chest last month when she revealed in an interview that she was crossing her fingers and hoping that the opportunity might come her way.

With Rosario Dawson set to portray Ahsoka, and Attack of the Clones’ Temuera Morrison on board (reportedly as Boba Fett, but potentially Captain Rex?), one has to wonder whether we’ll also get an appearance from Star Wars Rebels’ Sabine Wren. Given Sabine’s ties to Ahsoka, Bo-Katan, the Darksaber and Mandalore (not to mention producer Dave Filoni), it must surely be a very strong possibility.
