The Week in Star Wars – Everything from Force Friday, new Han Solo casting, The Last Jedi spoilers and more

September 3, 2017 by admin

The Week in Star Wars is back with huge reveals from Force Friday, some Han Solo casting, The Last Jedi plot details, loads of new images from the movie as well as Star Wars Rebels and comics news…

Let’s kick things off in this edition with the latest from Force Friday, which began with our first look at Funko’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi merchandise including Pop! Movies vinyl figures, Bobble-Head Wobblers, Mystery Mini Bobble-Heads, and Galactic Plushies. We follow that up with the Cosbaby Bobble-Head, and Hot Toys’ 1/6th scale First Order Executioner Trooper figure, and over 50 images from Hasbros action figures and vehicles The Last Jedi, as well as a sprinkling of The Original Trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars Rebels. Sideshow also unveiled Hot Toys’ upcoming Movie Masterpiece Series sixth scale Anakin Skywalker figure which is based on the likeness of Hayden Christensen in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, their Premium Format Captain Phasma figure, their 1/6th scale First Order Executioner Trooper figure from Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and their third series of Cosbaby Bobble-Heads for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Hope you’ve been saving up your pocket money…

…Let’s move over to the Lego reveals, and we’ve got promotional images for LEGO’s range of Star Wars: The Last Jedi sets as well as that incredible 7,541-piece LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon…

…Sticking with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and we’ve got a whole host of promotional images for the film, including two of Rey (Daisy Ridley) with her lightsaber and standing on a cliff on Ahch-To, a new look at Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), some promotional artwork via a jigsaw puzzle, and some official movie artwork via trading cards. And finally, Empire Magazine has unveiled the subscriber cover to its Last Jedi issue, which features Rey passing Anakin Skywalker’s lightsaber into the robotic hand of Luke. Check that out here…

…Speaking of those trading cards, and they have revealed a plot overview for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. We never post any spoilers in The Week in Star Wars, but you can check out the listing by clicking here…

…Another potential spoiler from Star Wars: The Last Jedi merchandise is that the First Order are building another Death Star, which you can check out here. And if that sort of thing tickles your fancy, we’ve got our first look at Supreme Leader Snoke’s Mega-class Star Destroyer here…

…Shortly after Donald Glover wrapped filming the still-to-be-titled Han Solo spin-off, it was announced that Paul Bettany (Avengers: Infinity War) has joined the production – which SlashFilm are claiming is the same role vacated by Michael K. Williams due to scheduling issues...

…Moving over to Star Wars Rebels now and a new featurette from the third season Blu-Ray was released which looked at the battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul, and you can check out our in-depth coverage of their panel at Fan Expo 2017 featuring  executive producer Dave Filoni and stars Vanessa Marshall (Hera) and Taylor Gray (Ezra) here. You can watch the trailer for the fourth and final season here, and read Ricky Church’s review of the premiere episode here and his coverage of the Fan Expo Rebels panel here…

…And finally, we’ve got a lot of comic book previews for you – but first read Jessie Robertson’s review of IDW’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens Graphic Novel here. First up we’ve got Star Wars: Darth Vader #5: He began his journey as a Jedi with wonder and hope. Now it is time to put away childish things. Vader’s first and most vital test as a Sith concludes; next we have Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Captain Phasma #1: As the excitement ramps up for this December’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, come back with us to the final moments of The Force Awakens and the destruction of Starkiller Base to learn the fate of Captain Phasma! Captured by the Resistance and thrown into a garbage masher, we follow the chrome-adorned warrior from the site of the First Order’s biggest defeat to the doorstep of this holiday season’s biggest blockbuster! Next up is Star Wars #35: Han and Chewie go back to smuggling…for a Hutt?! And finally, Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic: Mace Windu #1: For over a thousand generations, the Jedi have been the peacekeepers of the galaxy…but now, at the dawn of the Clone Wars, they find themselves in a new role: generals in the Army of the Republic. As Mace Windu, one of the Jedi’s greatest warriors, leads a small unit of Jedi into battle shortly after the war begins, the Jedi must make peace with their new role, or be lost to the violence around them!

That’s all for this week – may the Force be with you.
