Hugh Jackman teases he’s playing “a dual role” in Deadpool 3

March 2, 2023 by EJ Moreno

As we speak, Hugh Jackman is getting into Wolverine shape for Deadpool 3, but will the actor have multiple versions of the character to prepare for?

As we head further into the Multiverse Saga, we are learning more about what the MCU actors will have to deal with in the future, which includes a lot of multiple performances. We are seeing it with Jonathan Majors’ Kang variants, and we may soon see it with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, as the actor teases he’ll be playing multiple roles in Deadpool 3.

In a recent interview with the French outlet La Parisien, Jackman disclosed some new information concerning the film, noting he’ll play at least two roles in the third Deadpool film.

“Yes, it will even be a dual role,” he revealed to the outlet in an interview promoting his film, The Son. “Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years; we have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer. That’s why I’m so happy to be in Paris right now and to be able to enjoy French gastronomy. Because very soon, I’m going to have to put myself on a strict diet to remake my Wolverine body: steamed chicken and broccoli!”

There’s no confirmation of what “dual role” means. Still, Jackman has played two versions of Logan before, appearing as the titular hero and an evil copy in the award-winning film Logan. He could return to something like that, multiversal variants, or given the nature of the Deadpool franchise, Jackman could even play a version of his real-life persona.

Deadpool 3 will star Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Emma Corrin. Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are writing the film, and Shawn Levy (Free Guy) is on board as director.

The as-yet-untitled Deadpool 3 is set for release on September 6th, 2024.
