The Week in Spandex – Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers 4, Female Marvel Team-Up, Justice League, Shazam, Marvel vs DC and more

November 4, 2017 by Gary Collinson

…Over at The CW and you can read Martin’s review of this past Monday’s episode of Supergirl ‘The Faithful’ here, while we’ve also got a trailer, promo and images for the Kevin Smith-directed ‘Damage’ [see here and here], a synopsis for the seventh episode ‘Wake Up’ [read it here], and a first-look image of Odette Annable as the season’s main villain Reign [see here]…

…Take a look at Jessie Robertson’s review of The Flash’s fourth episode ‘Elongated Journey Into Night’ here, and take a look at a trailer, promo and images for this coming Tuesday’s ‘Girls Night Out’ featuring guest star Katee Sackhoff [see here and here], a synopsis for the seventh episode ‘Therefore I Am’ [see here] and a poster featuring a ‘Frost Warning’ [see here]…

…You can find Jessie’s review of this week’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow ‘Phone Home’ here, and we also have a promo and images for this Tuesday’s fifth episode ‘Return of the Mack’ [see here and here] along with a synopsis for the seventh episode ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ which sees the return of Gorilla Grodd [see here]…

…Jessie has also reviewed this week’s episode of Arrow ‘Reversal’ [read it here], while The CW has released a promo and images for Thursday’s ‘Deathstroke Returns’ [see here and here] and a synopsis for the seventh episode ‘Thanksgiving’ [see here]…

…The CW has announced that Chantal Thuy (Pretty Little Liars) has joined the cast of its upcoming superhero series Black Lightning, and will play the character of Grace Choi. The official description describes Grace as “a bartender who becomes the love interest of Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams). Grace is a comic book fan who befriends Anissa while she is coming to terms with her abilities and becomes Anissa’s first confidant about the struggles and challenges of having abilities.” Look for Black Lightning in early 2018…

…Syfy has also added to the cast of its Superman prequel series Krypton with two new additions: first up, Ray Donovan’s Paula Malcomson will portray Charys-El, the matriarch of the House of El and mother to Cameron Cuffe’s Seg-El (a.k.a. Superman’s grandfather); meanwhile Da Vinci’s Demons‘ Blake Ritson is set to play the classic DC villain Brainiac, described as a “parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence…”

…The live-action Teen Titans series Titans has found its main cast, but this week has brought some alleged character descriptions which seem to suggest that Roy Harper/Arsenal, Rita Farr/Elasti-Girl and Brother Blood are set to feature in the digital series, while it’s also been rumoured that the Flying Graysons will make an appearance, presumably in a flashback to Dick Grayson’s origin…

…Coinciding with the UK release of the animated movie Batman vs. Two-Face this past week, Flickering Myth’s Shaun Munro got to chat to the Boy Wonder himself, the legendary Burt Ward, and you can read Ward’s comments on working with the late, great Adam West here, as well as his full interview about Batman vs. Two-Face and his time as Robin here…

…Warner Bros. has announced that the Dark Knight will be teaming up with the Mystery Inc. gang again this January with the release of the animated movie Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The film is set to feature iconic Batman Rogues such as the Joker, Catwoman, Riddler, Penguin, Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, along with Scooby-Doo villains Ghost Clown, Spooky Space Kook, Gentleman Ghost, and Miner 49er. Batman and the gang will have some help though, with appearances from the likes of Aquaman, Plastic Man, The Question and Martian Manhunter. Watch the trailer and find details of the voice cast here…

…Mark Hamill returned to the DC universe this past week as Warner and DC unveiled a new Justice League Action short entitled ‘Missing the Mark’, which sees Hamill portraying himself, as well as lending his voice to The Joker, The Trickster and Swamp Thing. Watch the short here…

…And finally, legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy has shared his opinion on The Dark Knight’s “no-kill” policy, stating that: “I personally don’t think Batman kills, and I love that about him. That was something they established early on and it ended up benefiting them so enormously because years later they realized, ‘Wait a minute, we have this rogues gallery of crazy villains and they’re all in Arkham Asylum. Let’s get em! Let’s get them out of there and let’s open it up.’ And then you had the whole Arkham series of games that they were able to do out of that. If he’d killed any of those people, they wouldn’t have been available, you know what I mean? I love the fact that he doesn’t kill.”
